The Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry

Greeting Message on the Occasion of the Opening of Bufala Fest – All the Forms of Taste

Dear Organizers, Distinguished Guests and Authorities,

I would like to extend my warmest greetings to everyone present on the occasion of the opening of the tenth edition of “Bufala Fest – All the Forms of Taste”.
Unavoidable institutional commitments prevent me from being with you in Naples today, but I wish to convey my sincere support for an event that over the years has established itself as a point of reference for the promotion and enhancement of the entire Italian buffalo dairy supply chain.

Ten years represent a special milestone, and I would therefore like to thank the Event’s Organizational Director, Antonio Rea, and all the organizers for the hard work, passion and vision with which they have enabled this event to grow over time, transforming it into an extraordinary showcase for the excellence of our agri-food sector.

The decision to develop the event around the theme of «Vision» effectively reflects the challenges facing the sector: combining the invaluable heritage of tradition and local specialties with innovation, sustainability and competitiveness on international markets.

Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO is a unique excellence and embodies authentic Made in Italy, with growing export figures and a level of quality appreciated throughout the world.

The Government and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry stand alongside those who work and invest in this sector. Through the recent legislation aimed at protecting Italian agri-food production, we have strengthened safeguards for the buffalo dairy supply chain by introducing the Single Register of Movements on the national computerized platform for buffalo milk, in order to prevent fraud, undeclared double milking and unlawful triangular transactions.

We have also launched an extraordinary plan of inspections and penalties of up to 3% of turnover against fraud and false indications of origin. We will continue to work to ensure supply-chain traceability, legality and the highest level of protection for producers and citizens, knowing that guaranteeing product quality is an essential condition for the growth of the entire sector.

Once again, I extend my congratulations to the organizers and my greetings to the authorities present, to Coldiretti Campania, to the Consortium for the Protection of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO, to the “Giardino delle Idee” Association, and to all the organizations involved in the extraordinary organizational effort put in place. I wish you all every success for this tenth edition.

With my warmest regards,

Francesco Lollobrigida
